Background
Towards the end of our first semester, Dr. Holt asked us to start brainstorming proejct ideas and mediums that would portray a portion of what we had discovered over the past 18 weeks. Our class unanimously agreed that the final project should include the whole class working together. In addition, many expressed interest in focusing on the story of Medea.
Project Proposal
I think we should make multiple videos depicting the same event but from different perspectives.
We would have a set of events that always happen, like Medea killing her kids and Jason's wife, and then replay those same scenarios but telling it from a different point of view. The perspectives would be from different characters in Medea's life, so Jason, Medea, her kids, the king Creon(?), Medea's nurse, etc. By choosing this as the medium for our project, I hope to demonstrate the process and all the pieces, and layers that go into a revenge story.
This would work for the Medea story because
1) we have already read 3 different versions of Medea, so we have some inspiration for the different perspectives
2) no matter what perspective or bias the author has Medea always ends up killing her children and Jason's new wife, so it's not like there's a lot of change to the plot line
3) by showing different perspectives it opens up a discussion - other people will want to know "What did you think? Who do you side with? Why did ______ decide to do that?"
Objectives of this project would be
1) to show the process behind revenge
2) inspire discussion about
- how POV influences (or does not influence) the audience's sympathy for the revenger,
- if revenge can be justified / if Medea's revenge can be justified
- the psyche of the revenger / what motives revenge

So, what happened?
Many of my classmates wrote proposals including some form of video. There was also a strong push to portray the many layers of of a revenge story. By sharing and collaborating with my peers we were able to come up with a final project idea: create a documentary about the making a Medea radio drama.
We had about two weeks of planning, which included lots of board diagraming and character analysis. Our class also divided into teams within three categories, Pre-Production, Production, and Post-Production, with the idea that everyone would have a job during each phase of the project.
